- TRANSFERRING FILES FROM LOTUS 1-2-3 TO dBASE III

- Starting in Lotus 1-2-3
-
- 1) Access the file you wish to transfer;
- 2) Note column-widths (you will need this information to set
- up your file structure in dBASE);
- 3) / PRINT FILE (access and open file for storage);
- 4) Enter (filename). This will automatically be assigned a
- .PRN extension;
- 5) RANGE (select appropriate range to be transferred);
- 6) OPTIONS MARGIN (set left margin to 0);
- 7) OPTIONS MARGIN (set right margin to 240);
- 8) OPTIONS OTHER (set to unformatted);
- 9) GO (writes file to disk in a printable form);
- 10) QUIT;
- 11) EXIT LOTUS 1-2-3;

- ENTER dBASE III

- 1) CREATE (filename) (should be a different name from filename
- name you are transferring into dBASE;
- 2) Build your structure according to the column-widths you
- have previously recorded;
- 3) CRTL END (saves structure);
- 4) system will query "add records now? Y/N" "N";
- 5) APPEND FROM (filename, saved from LOTUS) .PRN SDF;
